This is a superbly crafted single-shot rifle, purpose-built with a .22 caliber barrel with deep target crown, and a precision machined bolt with integral loading tray at the nose. The rifle has retained 99% of the original blue finish with only some faint traces of silvering along a few of the high edges and projections, while the armory bright bolt has a fine, still-bright patina. Extensive SIG proofmarks are present on the barrel, receiver, and barrel channel of the stock. The matching numbered stock and handguard likewise have only a handful of negligible markings and bruises marring the otherwise excellent commercial grade semi-gloss finish. There is a single, short with-the-grain crack on the heel of the butt, but again, this is minor. The rifle still has its magazine housing (permanently fixed in its well), and the original front and rear sights, but supplementary, precision adjustable target sights have also been installed. A small lead seal on string, numbered “956” on one side and "T./LSch/b on the other, is present on the barrel behind the hooded front sight assembly; and a moderately worn, but still serviceable original Swiss leather sling is installed. Many Swiss K-31 rifles were converted for target work after their replacement and subsequent removal from reserve status, but this was purposely built as a single-shot rimfire rifle by SIG. These rifles are a very rare sight in the U.S. and are seldom encountered. This example is in excellent, little-used condition and would make a terrific addition to any collection. It should also prove highly accurate in its intended role too. FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Swiss Model: Schmidt Rubin Serial Number: 124 Caliber Info: .22LR Gauge Info: .22LR |
