Flayderman's page 361. This number falls in the production serial# range 501 - 1000 for the 3rd model round barrel guns. Serial numbers 1- 500 were 1st & 2nd models which had octagon barrels. These Navy revolvers were manufactured by W.W. Marston from the late 1850’s to early 1860’s. The 8” barrel is stamped “Western / Arms Co. N.Y. Serial number S 749 is stamped on frame, 49 S is stamped on loading lever. The six safety notches on the cylinder and the three piece loading lever are very similar to Whitney navies. Condition: All markings are sharp. The frame has some small pin pricking on the surfaces. The barrel surface is smooth with the dovetail style site. Gun has great action. The grips are fine with usual handling marks and retain most of the original varnish. This is a scarce gun. Honoring 3 day inspection. Buyer pays 40.00 shipping and insurance.
