Description:
I. Hollis & Sons 12 Bore Shotgun
HAMMER GUN, ANTIQUE, READY TO SHOOT

General Specs: I. Hollis & Sons, Year 1855-1875, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 12oz, SxS
Serial Number: NA

Isaac Hollis and Sons was established in 1814 as a London gunmaker of fine guns.  This gun was made before 1885 as determined by the proof marks evident.  The gun is in overall excellent condition and a will make a great shooter for anyone who loves shooting antique hammer guns.  Weighing 7lbs. 12oz. and balanced just a bit in front of the hinge pin, the gun has enough weight to reduce fatigue on the sporting clays course but is light enough to carry afield.  The stock dimensions are modern and very shootable at 14 1/4" LOP, 2 3/8" drop at heel, 1 3/4 drop at comb, and 1/8" cast off.  The 30" fine Laminated steel retains 90% visible pattern, choked Cyl/IC, with a minimum of 33 thou of barrel wall thickness (robust barrels for RST loads or other light field loads), bores have light pitting throughout (not bad) with tight ribs, 2 3/4" chambers, no dents.  The barrels are tight on face and hinge pin like a new gun and the top lever spring has been replaced with a new one (it is a bit stiff until broken in), the entire internals have been inspected, cleaned, and lubricated so she is ready to go for another several decades.  If you are looking for a good buy on an English side by side hammer gun for shooting clays or birds this is your gun.  Thanks for looking!
