Description:
Ithaca Grade 2 Flues 16 Gauge Side-by-Side
STUNNING 98% FACTORY CONDITION!

General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1917, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 5oz, SxS
Serial Number: 274592

Ithaca made over 250,000 Flues model guns, the most prolific of all of their various models of side by side guns created over the years.  Many collectors of Ithaca guns gravitate toward the NID model that followed the Flues.  My findings are that the Flues gun is often more desirable in the way of handling characteristics, weight, and balance than the NID, and they have always been reliable, solid little guns.  They had nicer wood and checkering than other makers in the same price range, and hundreds of thousands are still in use today.  This gun, sn274592 built in 1917, IS A VERY DIFFERENT GUN THAN THE AVERAGE FLUES GUN YOU WILL SEE FOR SALE.  First, the barrels, trigger guard, forend iron, receiver, and wood all have lots of original factory finishes remaining, with nice 97% vivid case colors.  These little guns are most often found with little finish remaining, used hard over the years.  Even the wood and checkering are at 98% and factory original.  Second, it has noticeably finer engraving than any Grade 2 Flues I have seen, with a different leaf pattern and more detailed birds.  A nice lightweight (6lbs. 5oz.) little 16 gauge that has been well cared for and will make a fine upland and clays gun and increase in value as you enjoy its use.  It is no secret that finding HIGH CONDITION FACTORY ORIGINAL GUNS IS GETTING HARDER EACH DAY and that there will always be a strong demand from shooters and collectors alike for guns that stand out like this one.  This is good of an example as you will find and with its 28" Krupp Steel barrels choked IC/M and good shooting dimensions it will be an awesome gun to carry afield and shoot some clays this fall.  Thanks for looking!
