Description:
Ithaca Lewis #2 12 Gauge SxS
ULTRALIGHT 6 1/2 LBS., 85% FACTORY COLOR

General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1906, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 8oz, Side-by-Side
Serial Number: 119544

Here is a rare find in the way of vintage American double shotguns, an Ithaca Lewis Model, Quality 2, with Krupp Steel barrels, super high factory original condition, and an amazing 61/2 lbs. and balanced perfect between the hands.  This is what was referred to in the day as a "brush gun".  The Lewis Model was in production for only 6 years, from 1901 to 1906.  It incorporated a top bolt that interfaced with a rib extension for lock up, in addition to the usual underlug and bolting mechanism we know from British double guns.  This gun, sn119544 made in 1906, is 110 years old and has seen little use, retaining 85% vivid factory case color, 98% dark factory blue, 98% factory wood finish, near perfect checkering, crisp factory buttplate showing little use, mirror bores, and perfect screws.  Finding a nicely engraved gun in this condition is rare enough, but to find such a dynamic, sweet handling 12 bore at 6 1/2lbs. AND WITH AWESOME MODERN STOCK DIMENSIONS OF 14" LOP, 2 1/2 DROP AT HEEL, 1 1/2" DROP AT COMB, NEUTRAL CAST...this is a real gem that will be a pleasure to carry over hill and dale in pursuit of upland game or that elusive clay target.  Most 16 and 20 gauge guns weigh in at 6 1/2lbs.  Finding an American 12ga. double gun under 7 lbs. is hard, under 6 3/4lbs. near impossible.  You just don't see them at 6 1/2lbs.  I much prefer to carry a lightweight 12 gauge in pursuit of upland game, as I can shoot anything from superlight, low recoil 3/4oz. loads up to field loads with 1 1/4oz. of shot.  That covers woodcock to the wily late season rooster in the way of killing power.  A light 12 is truly a versatile gun that has an amazingly short shot string and devastating stopping power.  THIS GUN HAS IT ALL...CONDITION, RARITY, DESIRABLE DIMENSIONS, AND PRICED AT AN AFFORDABLE INVESTMENT COST.  High condition American doubles will always be highly sought after and this gun will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use.  Thanks for looking!
