PRE-WAR WINCHESTER MODEL 61 COUNTER BORE .22 "FOR SHOT ONLY" TAKE-DOWN PUMP ACTION RIFLE, CIRCA 1940. Serial range "4700X" which puts it right in the range for counter bore after the serial range for the Routledge bore. This is the 2nd variation where the last 6" of bore is stepped outwards from .22-.27 caliber. Excellent bore. 24" barrel with front shotgun bead. Frame with matte top. Original blue on frame beginning to fade in a few areas but NEVER refinished. Same with barrel with 95% original blue only wearing thin where forend has been rubbing it. Barrel address includes "For Shot Only" under typical caliber marking ".22 L. Rifle". Forend all original and never cleaned with original varnish. Buttstock has some added lacquer for preservation but old and never taken down. Should clean off with all original under it. Original steel buttplate. All screws unturned. Absolutely untouched with only minor use wear. Magazine tube and plunger in perfect working order. Beautiful grain to original wood.
