Description:
Serial #302, .31 Caliber, 3” octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome revolver that has retained 80-85% of the original bright blue on the barrel and cylinder. There are spots of mild freckling and some silvering along the exposed edges, as well as some further mild freckling on the mottled, pewter gray frame. Additionally, there are some small peen marks on the side of the cylinder between the chambers. The gutta-percha grips are numbered to the gun and are in fine shape with only some slight surface wear at the butt. The trigger guard retains most of the original silver finish with yellow-ochre underlying brass visible along the edges. This very revolver is illustrated on page 31 of “Remington's First Revolvers” by Charles Schif, but is erroneously pictured in a factory box with the wrong caption. The caption for this revolver (serial #302) actually appears on the previous page next to a different revolver. Nevertheless, this is a fine example of a rare, early Remington Beals pocket revolver, pictured in a reference book, and would make a fabulous addition to any collection. {Ref. “ Remington's First Revolvers” by Charles Schif; 2007} Antique
