SN 41570. .52 cal. 7shot tube fed mag. 22" bbl. with 6 groove rifling.Good exammple of the famous Civil War carbine. Address on top of receiver fades as it progresses to the right: Spencer Repeating/ rifle Co.boston Mass./ Pat'd March 6, 1860. All parts original and mechanically perfect except as noted: There is a possible repair to fore end stock at the top where it meets the receiver on the left side. If so it is the best repair I have ever seen. Leaf spring for rear sight has been replaced. Lock may have been modified for some reason to reduce the tension of the trigger/lock return spring. Safe and full cock still work correctly except you can't hear the trigger "snap in". Stock shows some storeage dings on right side. Overall wood shows use dings throughout. Bore is dark and pitted with 6 grooves clearly showing. Metal is mostly gray-brown mottled patina with some pitting on top of receiver.
