Description:
Beaumont Adams 1856 patent .44 caliber double-action, five shot percussion civil war revolverwith a 6 inch barrel serial number 208##  . This revolver was the first handgun to be classified as double-action, however you cannot cock the hammer back in the normal sense. You can fire the pistol by pulling the trigger which will advance the cylinder and fire the pistol or by thumbing back and releasing the hammer.
These were made by Deane , Adams and Deane located in London England. The pistol is in excellent condition with original case hardening/bluing visible over the entire revolver. Very slight wear visible and sharp corners. The frame and barrel are one piece with the rifling sharp and distinct, with some spots, which might be slight pitting or metal loss, I do not own a bore scope. The grip is a of one piece walnut, with checkering pattern sharp and showing no indication of wear other than a couple of slight dings. One of the original nipples is broken off and missing, with no damage to the cylinder. There is evidence of a very small lip located on the fore part of the cylinder around the center axis of the cylinder which looks to be chipped off which allows slight fore and aft movement of the cylinder. There are three slight indentations on the backside of the loading lever pivot screw boss. Lastly there is a indentation on the hammer face, the result of a few too many dry fires. A few scratches in some of the nipple recesses and some bluing loss on the barrel where the loading lever rubs when in use.
6 The revolver appears to be unfired and is a somewhat of an enigma. The only markings on the pistol are a small stamping which has the name Adams arcing over the date 1856 and the word patent arcing under the date. The right side of the frame has the wording Adams patent followed by the serial number. It is a matching numbers gun with the same serial number on the cylinder. The proofing mark is from Leige. Another oddity is a mysterious mark just below the lesige mark which looks like a crown over a Z. I cannot find a reference for this mark anywhere. Since the vast majority of these pistols went to the Confederacy and since this one is divoid of maker marks or identifying marks I would assume this one was also delivered to the Confederacy by the maker located in London England.
Overall a very nice, desirable and rare Civil War percussion pistol. They don't come along like this very often.I would rate this revolver at no less than 90% and probably more acurately 95%

Payment needs to run thru PayPal unless you want to pick it up or some other secure form of payment.  I would love to take a personal check or money order but if you had been ripped off as many times as I have you would understand my reluctance.

Shipping would be an additional $20 within CONUS.  I do not ship internationally.
