Description:
Smith & Wesson "Pre-Model 25" 1955 .45 Target Model (Heavy Barrel) in .45 ACP. 6 1/2" Pinned Heavy Barrel, Patridge Front Sight and Micrometer Adjustable Rear, 5 Screw, Target Hammer, Target Trigger and Target Stocks with silver plated brass S&W medallions (stocks are not correct for an early Model 1955). The barrel is marked "45 Cal. Model 1955", and the serial number has an "S" pre-fix, # S161084, this Model 1955 was manufactured from 1955 to 1957, and beginning sometime in 1957 the model was designated the Model 25. The revolver comes with two full-moon clips and several half-moon clips, and a number of S&W items (not time period to the gun), a S&W wood display box, tool kit, manual and other papers, all from the mid-1970s. CONDITION: Unfortunately the hammer, trigger and cylinder release button were silver or chrome plated at some point in it's 60 year history (give or take a year). Overall the bluing is in good condition, but there is some minor wear to the bluing on both sides of the barrel and more at the muzzle, and the cylinder has some fading/wear to the bluing, as well as turn ring marks. The stocks are in good to fair condition with small scratches, nicks and a little gloss remaining to the old factory lacquer finish. The checkering points are flat, the silver plate on the S&W medallion on the left side is completely worn off, and most of the S&W engraved lettering is worn from the medallion. The revolver weighs: 2 3/4 Lbs.
