No. 5 PACIFIC RIFLE IN .38-55 CALIBER, MARLIN FIREARMS COMPANY MARKED, #27XXX serial number matching on the barrel, forend, receiver and butt plate, one of the more desirable and difficult calibers to find in the Pacific Model, 30" octagon barrel retains nearly all the aged blue that is mixing plum, .38-55 caliber marking on top flat ahead of the receiver, double set triggers function fine, generally fine+ to exc. stock and forend, fine bore a little dark with deep rifling and ought to scrub out fine+ or better, buckhorn rear sight with Rocky Mountain blade front, tight action, mottled gray/brown receiver with traces of case color, bottom of lever has two very small threaded holes where some kind of attachment was fitted at one time (pistol grip or perhaps a target style wood piece as seen on some target levers)- hardly noticeable, original twin thimbles intact with wiping rod, weighs just over 10 lbs., nice example in a desirable caliber.
