Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This Type 99 Japanese rifle was built by the Toyo Kogyo Arsenal around 1940. It has an intact mum. It is all matching including the bolt and firing pin except for the top band/bayonet lug. It also has the "airplane sights" intact. The Japanese believed it was a great dishonor to have their rifle captured with the complete mum, so if at all possible they defaced them prior to being captured or killed. This makes rifles with intact mums much scarcer than examples with defaced or ground off mums. The metal parts on this Type 99 are in good shape. They have 90% +/- of the factory blue finish still remaining. The stock appears to have been lightly sanded by the G.I. who brought it back as a trophy to improve what was generally a rough appearance from the factory. The bore is in excellent condition. It is bright and the rifling is sharp and strong. Because this Type 99 still has the original matching bolt installed, the headspace is perfect and not a concern. It should shoot great! It's unfortunate that it has a mismatched top band, but as a result it is an affordable example of the main battle rifle of the Japanese in WW2.
