Left side of frame clearly marked "SHARPS / PATENT / 1859", right side of frame "SHARPS / & / HANKINS / PHILADA", somewhat worn. Left side of frame with original scarce sling ring. It has a smooth brown patina overall with the receiver being a silvery brown. The bore is dark, with visible rifling along its length. The stock has a fine crack running from the tang back about 6" on the right. There is a fine 1" hairline crack on the left side of the wrist where the wood meets the receiver. In addition, the initials "S.A.M." are carved into the left side of the stock. The wood has shrunken away from the untouched brass buttplate, Mechanics are very good. Complete with sling swivel on bottom of buttstock. Missing safety slide at hammer and elevator leaf for rear sight, both replaceable. A scarce carbine.
