Portuguese Mauser Luger (Rig) Mdl. 1935/06. cal. .30 Luger Ser. 24xx.
Awesome is the only way to describe this rarity. This is the very rare small order pre-war contract with the "Royal Portuguese Navy Crest”.
One of only 564 ever made, making this gun part of the smallest variation ever contracted. It was certainly an unusual order. The order called for 564 Model 1904 Lugers to be delivered in 1936. A gun that was discontinued at least 20 years earlier.
This gun is in the correct "v" block and numbered exactly 12 numbers before the last serial number mentioned in Lugers at Random by Kenyon. The condition is magnificent. It retains 98-99% of the original factory high polish blue. The only loss is some very fine silvering on the sharp edges, muzzle and sideplate. There is also two or three very small hairline scratches on the left side of the frame. That's about it. Truly, no rust or pinpricks anywhere.
All numbered parts match. The strawed parts are also about 98-99%. The grip straps show no thinning or graying. The walnut checkered grips are almost flawless. While there are no splits or chips, there are a couple of very small areas of flattened points. The grip screws are unmarred and are brightly blued.
The feed ramp, slide rails and bolt face show little or no use. The bore is super bright with razor sharp rifling and without even a hint of graying. To complete the RIG there is a correct Portuguese Navy holster stamped, A E/ 55/ 36. A cleaning rod with an unusual built in oiler in the handle, a takedown tool and a small punch. All in great condition and all absolutely correct.
To complete the rig there is a correct spare magazine pouch also stamped A E containing two aluminum based silver bodied original magazines. And of course a third magazine for the gun.
A highly collectible and complete rig.
Wow one of only 564 ever made, an early gun in a much later period.
Ownership of this centerpiece certainly is a real a prize with all the attendant bragging rights. ..REDUCED....$4795.
