Mauser P-08, (S/42), Caliber .9mm, Serial Number 48XX, Dated 1938.
Superb or outstanding, take your pick.
The blue remaining is conservatively 97-98%. The only loss is the usual, but very slight sharp edge, muzzle and side plate silvering. There is no rust, pits, or flaking anywhere. The gripstraps show almost no sign of graying. All numbered parts match including the grips.
The slide is tamped Eagle/63, Eagle /63 and Drooping Eagle. The toggle is stamped Drooping Eagle. The barrel is stamped Drooping Eagle. The wooden grips have no chips or splits. The left panel has a small pressure ding from laying on something. The right panel has two or three flattened points none of these really detracts from the gun's overall beauty.
The barrel is bright, with very sharp rifling and some slight graying. The gun comes with one correct non matching, Drooping Eagle stamped magazine.
This S/42 is really lovely to look at and should be a prize winner on the range. $2295.
