Bliss 25 caliber rimfire revolver. 1863-1864. Successor to the Bliss and Goodyear percussion revolver of the same design. Probably less than 3000 made. Markings are " F. D. BLISS. NEW HAVEN-CT" on the barrel top flat, and are very sharp. The frame is a silvery gray color. The barrel has about 80% original bright blue. The cylinder has about 60% original blue, thinning. The cylinder pin is complete with the original locking spring, and has what appears to be a silvery remains of case coloring. The serial number is 467, and the cylinder assembly number (for the cylinder and the back plate) is #388. There is a penciled number on one of the grips which is unreadable. The bore is excellent. Mechanically it is fine. The grips have lots of varnish, and show a little shrinking. This is overall a very nice example of this somewhat scarce gun. Most that I see have little if any original blue, and are worn rather badly. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: F.D. Bliss Serial Number: 467 Caliber Info: 25 |
