Description:
Serial #70680, .450 cal., 4 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few very minor spots of freckling within the grooves near the muzzle. This is a handsome revolver made in the 1880s that has retained 98-99% of the maker applied bright blue finish (these guns were shipped in the white to the Army & Navy CSL who then marked, finished, and cased them). The blue has silvered slightly at the muzzle as well as along the raised edges and projections. The topstrap is marked, “ARMY & NAVY/C.S.L.”; and the standard Webley markings are present on the left side of the frame. The hammer, trigger, and ejector assembly are bright gray, and there is still some original bright fire blue remaining on the screw heads. The checkered walnut grip is in fine-near excellent condition with only a handful of extremely minor handling marks present. The revolver has tight lock-up and the mechanism functions flawlessly in both single and double-action. The revolver is housed in its original, dark blue baize-lined oaken case with Army & Navy Co-Operative Society paper label on the inside of the lid. The case is in fine condition with some staining of the interior and comes with an original (still filled) glass oil bottle, turn-screw, brass cleaning rod, and key. Additionally, there are 18 rounds of later Kynoch .450 Webley in a recently added cartridge block (Please Note: these cartridges cannot be shipped to international purchasers.) This is a fine-excellent example of an Army & Navy CSL marked RIC revolver and would make a fantastic addition to any collection. {Ref. “Webley Solid Frame Revolvers/Models RIC, MP, and No. 5” by Joel Black, Joseph L.
