Description:
Sold Pending Funds / Sharps New Model 1863 Saddle Ring Carbine, serial # 51979, with a 22” three groove barrel that has strong rifling along with a very good bore that was either arsenal or Sharps Rifle Company converted to cal. 50-70 center fire metallic cartridge. Has a brass blade front sight & elevation adjustable ladder rear sight. This carbine has both Sharps & Lawrence patents on lock & receiver, left side of stock has one DFC cartouche. The finish on the metal is a 90%+ mixture of blue with areas turning to patina. The toe of the buttstock shows a wood repair running back from the buttplate about five inches with this said the remainder of the wood is very good, buttstock has its original patchbox. Carbine function correctly and locks up tight. Overall as photographed and described this is a nice Sharps in good plus - very good condition.
