Chambered for the rare "44rf for pistol" caliber, a short-case rimfire 44. This gun is complete and original, with traces of original blue on the barrel. The case colored frame and breechblock have faded to a silver/gray. The markings are excellent. The action is fine. The 'gutta percha' grips are excellent with no cracks or chips and have the original grip screw. The serial is 17xx. The front sight looks original but has two pieces of old solder stuck to it, one on each side, so it is possibly an old replacement. The metal surfaces of the gun are very good, with a little wear and staining commensurate with handling and use. The bore is only fair. This is the biggest caliber American derringer of the period.
