Description:
Extremely rare Wm Hankins Philadelphia 22 cal revolver.  This is the cartridge version of the Hankins percussion revolver. Made circa 1860-61, after which he sold the business to William Uhlinger.   About 650 total made, the vast majority being the percussion model. The remaining few were in 22 cal cartridge.  Unknown as to the exact quantity, but estimated at between 100 and 150. This example is in very nice condition with excellent markings on the left and right side of the barrel in front of the cylinder, excellent grips with about 80% original varnish, and excellent mechanism. serial number 184. Only the finish has fallen away.  The frame is a medium gray steel color, while the barrel and cylinder are a brighter steel color.  The cylinder has the tiny round cylinder stop holes, and the four fine engraved bands around the cylinder. I may have seen 4 or 5 of these guns in over 40 years.  I think less than a dozen remain, if that.  There is a small scrape in the bottom of the right grip, as can be seen in the photos.
