Lee Enfield (Savage Mfg.) No 1 Mk. 4 Sniper Cal .303, Ser. 10C 20XX.
This sniper is one of a group of Lee Enfields made in the U.S. for secret sales to the British during WWII. They have a small U.S. Flaming Bomb ordinance stamp to make it look like they were for the U.S.
This particular gun does not the typical British "T" stamps on the frame that the British used on its sniper rifles. However, it does have the "S51" sniper stamp on the stock and it falls into the proper serial range for Savage Lend Lease snipers. In addition it has the mounting blocks and cheek rest that are original to the gun.
The gun itself retains about 75-80% of the original factory finish. There are no pits or rust. There are some very small areas of light scattered pin pricks. The bolt is matched to the frame. The wood stock and hand guards are in great condition with no splits or chips.
There are a few light surface dings, but nothing serious enough to detract from the gun's nice appearance. The scope and the mount are really high quality reproductions.
The optics are crystal clear and the adjustment knobs work. The scope is complete with the often missing sunshade. In addition, the gun comes with a nice reproduction scope, transit case, leather carrying strap and the sight adjustment tool.
The barrel, while it has seen some use, is bright with sharp crisp rifling and just a hint of frosting. The gun comes with one really nice magazine and an original canvas sling.
Everything you need to be the sniper at the next re-enactment and a tack driver at the range.
It's really a great opportunity for the chap that doesn't want to drop 4k+ for an original gun that he's afraid to take to the range..... $1995.
