Description:
The Mauser factory produced this P-38 in 1943 for the German Military. At that time, the Mauser factory in Obendorf was using the code "BYF" in an attempt to hide the source of these small arms from Allied Intelligence. This particular example is in excellent original condition and is 100% correct with all matching numbers. It retains 95% of the factory blue finish, the bore is bright and clean, and the grips are in excellent condition as well. The magazine is the correct "135" waffenamt designating inspection at the same plant where this pistol was built. This P-38 was most certainly a "bring-back" during World War 2 and not one of the pistols imported in later years that required it to be stamped with import marks. Some lucky G.I. brought this back as a war trophy from his time in the European Theater of WW2 and it has been very well cared for since. This BYF 43 P-38 would be a great addition to any military firearm collection and is a real piece of WW2 history!
