Description: This is a handsome, West German-made sword that measures 38 1/2” overall with a 32 3/4” curved, single-edged blade having long single and short double fullers. The blade is in superb condition having virtually all of the original bright factory polish remaining and lovely etched panels with foliate and geometric scrollwork, “UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS”, Betsy Ross flag, and the eagle, globe, and anchor. The ricasso is marked with the Conquerer trademark on the reverse and with the Damascus star opposite. The hilt is also in excellent condition with 98% of the original gilt finish remaining, some tiny flaked areas on the edges of the langets and acorn-tipped quillons. The faux ivory celluloid grip panels are in excellent condition. The stainless steel scabbard is also in excellent condition with only a few minor scratches and handling marks along its length. The gilt hanger bands and drag are in excellent condition as well. This is a great looking, Cold War era example of an iconic American military sword and is in excellent overall condition.
