Description:
The Miquelet flintlock mechanism was developed by the Italians and Spanish in the 17th century. The significant breakthrough was achieved combining the striking plate and the pan cover, providing both a good spark and also protection of the prepared powder in the priming pan. Approx. 56 cal. Just over 33 inch smooth bore barrel with 8 embellished silver barrel bands. Rifle is just under 50 inches in length. Action works. Not sure if it is covered in Bone or Ivory pieces that are decorated with red and green colored stones. Lots to look at. Trigger guard is silver plated brass that is very nicely engraved. Also includes a matching powder flask. Very unique and unusual. For the guy that has everything!
