Description:
"SALE PENDING"  -  Civil War Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver - 4th Model  -  Cal. .36  -  7 1/2" Bbl. - SN 102363 (1862) - numbers matching on butt, guard, frame, cylinder pin,  lever, and wedge - cylinder has no SN, but shows the "s" sub-inspector stamp to the right of the "Colts Patent" marking and SN space.  Bore is good to VG showing good rifling with spots of corrosion and mild darkening.  Action is crisp and tight with perfect timing and lock-up.  Barrel and lever show surface pitting but have sharp markings and  edges - retain about 65% blue with some thinning.  The cylinder is likely a period wartime  replacement with perfect chambers, nipples, and safety pins - scene is exceptionally sharp and crisp - retains about 80% finish with some thinning and one spot of mild pitting.  The frame is free of rust, pits, corrosion and has drifted to a gray patina with some areas of darkened case color -  guard and backstrap are undamaged and have a nice mellow tone.  Grips are undamaged with perfect fit to frame and retain about 85% - 90% finish.  A very crisp Civil War production 1851 Navy in VG+ condition and except for the cylinder, all original and unaltered.   A great addition to a Civil War  or early  Colt collection at a reasonable price.
