Spencer Model 1865 Carbine 50 Caliber 15-108
Condition: Barrel has 80-90% dark blue finish a little corrosion at muzzle, and frame is fairy clean with some corrosion on top, markings are very light. Wood is very good condition with some dings, dents,hairline crack in fore stock, etc. Bore is very good/Fine with good 50% rifling and some corrosion, which is typical for a carbine of this era.Works perfectly mechanically. Overall a very attractive, very good condition Spencer.Serial #4900.

Made by Spencer Repeating Rifle Company, Boston, Massachusetts, with some production subcontracted by Burnside Rifle Company, approximately 144,500 of which 107,372 rifles and carbines sold to the United States government. Seven-shot repeater; loaded by magazine tube fitted through center of buttstock. Operated by lowering and raising the combination trigger guard-lever. Various barrel lengths as noted below.Iron mountings; standard finish casehardened receiver, buttplate and barrel bands; blued barrel. Walnut stocks.

Model 1865: Made c. 1865-1866 .50 caliber R.F.. 20” barrel; six groove rifling. Approximately 50 percent are fitted with the Stabler cut-off.(not this one) Serial numbered approximately 1 to 23000. Additional marking at breech of barrel M 1865: See Flayderman p;633.
