Description:
National Arms Co Brooklyn NY No.2 derringer. 41 cal rf. standard 2 1/2" barrel. Brass frame. All engraving is very clear, showing very little wear. The very tiny standard barrel markings are all there, and are clearly visible with the help of a magnifying glass. The even smaller patent markings on the bottom of the barrel are also clear with the help of a magnifier, "PAT FEB 24 1863". Serial number is 5443. The action is very tight and includes a VERY heavy hammer spring. It is nice to see original engraved screws, an original release button, and unbroken hammer spurs. The bore ws not cleaned well and has pitting and some dark corrosion. The brass frame is a nice aged patina with just traces of the original silver wash. The barrel has some light pitting and is a medium gray with traces of original blue only in protected areas. All told, for a gun that is lacking most of the original finish, this is a pleasant and appealing specimen.
