Description:
Frank Wesson 41 cal two shot derringer with sliding dirk. Third type. Serial number 777, located at the breech.   3" swivel barrels with full flutes.  Horizontal markings on both barrels. Pictured in the book "Frank Wesson Gunmaker"  Volume 2, page 88.  This is a very good specimen with clear markings, excellent rosewood grips, and a correct sliding dirk. The barrels are a light gray color with no blue remaining. There is very fine pitting overall, mostly visible with a glass. The Wesson markings, which are famously unevenly struck, are nicely done on this example with only the very beginning of one side obscured.  The original rosewood grips are serial numbered to the gun and have quite a bit of varnish. They are slightly flattened at the high spots.   The brass frame is a nice dark patina, uncleaned, with a sharply struck serial.   This is clearly above average for one of these guns.
