Description:
SOLD
Springfield Armory M1922 MII, manufactured about 1925, serial number 2092B. Barrel is dated August 1925 with a bright bore. Lyman front and rear sights. Walnut M2 stock, pistol grip with finger grooves, in very nice condition. No import marks.
This rifle is in excellent used condition. This is the improved M1922 M1 as adopted in 1925, arsenal converted to MII configuration. This rifle was military issue, as the receiver and barrel are not drilled and tapped for scope mount. The second “I” in ‘MII” and “B” serial number suffix were added.
C & R Eligible.
Specs:
- Receiver: app. 1925. Blued, excellent condition with no pitting, lettering very sharp. The bolt channel is bright. As photos of the top and bottom of the receiver show, there is no reason to suspect pitting on the receiver sides. (Removing the barrel and receiver from the stock for side photos would require driving out the barrel band pin, with risk of splintering the stock, so the receiver and stock were left assembled.)
- Barrel: marked “SA 8-25”, with flaming bomb and proof punch mark. 4-groove rifling. Bore is bright, riflings and crown good. Externally, some bluing is worn from the exposed top.
- Front sight: Appears to be a Lyman 17 globe, may be so marked underneath. Square post insert installed, no extra inserts with the rifle. Insert sets are available from retailers.
- Rear sight: Lyman, appears to be a 48C. Good condition, adjustment knobs click firmly.
- Bolt: bright, marked “NS M2” on top of handle, and “M2” on front bolt body. This is a M2 bolt with allen head headspace adjustment screws. Underside of bolt body is hand marked “2902B”.
- Extractor: marked “C 3998”
- Bolt sleeve: 1903 type, blued, unmarked
- Safety: READY/SAFE in block lettering, unmarked on edge
- Trigger: serrated, unmarked on visible portion
- Trigger guard: marked “R” on inside near the floorplate catch, blued, very good condition
- Floorplate: unmarked, blued, very good condition
- Barrel band: milled M1922 type, marked “U” on right side
- Magazine cutoff: unmarked, blued
- Magazine: marked “M2”, follower marked “1”. Base is blued, body parkerized. Excellent condition, no pitting.
- Stock: walnut, pistol grip with finger grooves. This is the military issue M2 type. Marked “M2” on pistol grip. Very good condition, no cracks, few dings/scratches.
- Buttplate: checkered 1922 type, excellent condition
- Rear swivel: milled 1903 type, unmarked
- Sling: leather 1907 type, repro, has a little corrosion on the brass hooks
