Cal. 45-70. Ser. 1874XX A really lovely example of the desirable Saddle Ring Carbine. The metal parts have acquired a soft dark silver grey patina. The small side plates of the "C" stamped (Carbine) rear sight do have some slight surface flaking. But the rest of the gun is just plain lovely. There are no rust spots, pits or rub marks anywhere else. There are still vestiges of the case color on lock and trapdoor. The wood is also almost flawless. One small crack at the front end of the saddle ring plate. There are no gouges, dings or other cracks elsewhere. The left side has the original inspector's cartouche still visible. The saddle ring is still intact. The U.S. stamped butt-plate is correct with the original trapdoor and is also devoid of rust or pits. The exterior of the gun makes a very pleasing appearance. Add to that the bore is great. Very bright with crisp, sharp rifling and just a touch of frosting. This gun would make you proud either on the range or in your collection....$2395.
