Springfield 1903 U.S.M.C. Barrel Dated 5-43 Cal. .30-06 Ser. 11811XX.
Gorgeous in every sense of the word. Arsenal rebuilt in 1943. The gun retains 96+% of the arsenal Parkerizing. The only loss is some thinning on the magazine floor plate from carrying.
The scant grip stock, like the rest of the gun, is in great condition. The vernier rear sight ladder is in the white and shows no graying.
The receiver has the later "Hatcher Hole" gas port. The front sight has a Marine style front sight cover. The right side is stamped with a Triangle G . The left with a part number. Which looks like it never has been off the gun.
The "scant" pistol grip type walnut stock and hand guard retain about 95% of the original finish with no splits or gouges. The left side just below the rear sight does a have about a dozen light surface scratches.
The barrel is as previously mentioned U.S.M.C. stamped. It has a bright bore with sharp crisp rifling and just a hint of frosting. The throat erosion is 2 and the muzzle about the same.
Really wonderful condition, great to look at and pinpoint accuracy at the range....$995.
