Springfield. (Springfield Arsenal rebuild) M1 Garand Cal. .30-06. Ser. 7396XX.
Receiver is marked SA-52 on the heel, indicating that this gun is a 1952 Springfield Arsenal rebuild. The gun has a WWII reciever, bolt and trigger group. The remainder of the parts are from the '52 rebuild and are proper for the time period, including a 9-52 stamped barrel.
The Parkerizing is great, easily 95+%. The loss seems to be some slight age thinning and sharp edge silvering. The stock is an original post war stock, stamped Box/SA/JLG and a Crossed Cannons Ordinance stamp. The pistol grip is stamped Circle P proof.
While the wood has aged some, there are no significant dings, scratches, or splits. All wood parts appear to have been together from the very beginning.
The barrel is gauged, muzzle 1+ and the throat 3+ it doesn't get much better than that. The bore is mirror bright, with sharp, crisp rifling. The gun comes with full CMP documentation and a Certificate of Authenticity.
A really wonderful package that would be difficult to duplicate. It should be a tack driver on the range and a very handsome addition to any a collection.....$1695.
