Superb condition 1903 Springfield, 1938 production rifle (receiver 1520XXX) with a 3/38 barrel with an excellent bore. Unusually nice level of fit and finish for a service grade rifle. Note: this NOT a NM rifle. All components (including the pre-war C-Stock) are absolutely guaranteed to be genuine GI and correct for the period. This rifle appears to conform to the DCM sales rifles described on page 127 of "The Collectible '03" by J.C. Harrison. However, there is no substantiating paper work or reliable provinence. There is no inspector's cartouche or "circle P" proof mark, but the stock is properly stamped with an "S" in the cut-off switch well and has the customary punch marks on both the receiver and the barrel. This gorgeous rifle is one of the finest '03s I have ever encountered in over 25 years of collecting and selling these fine weapons.
