Description:
Fox AE Grade 16 Gauge SxS
5lb. 15oz., 99% CONDITION, #4 WEIGHT 28" BARRELS

General Specs: Fox, Year 1921, 16 Gauge, 5lbs 15oz, Side-by-Side
Serial Number: 301265

This 1921 vintage Philly Fox, sn301265, was built for the uplands.  To find an American 16ga. that weighs 5lbs. 15oz. and balances perfectly really puts a smile on a bird hunter’s face.  If you walk a lot over hill and dale, you will appreciate this gun.  The gun was fully and properly restored and is ready for decades more use with no more money to invest.

The receiver has been case colored with the bone and charcoal process.  All internal parts have been inspected for problems, cleaned, and properly lubricated before re-assembly.  The screws are excellent, ejectors strong and properly timed, double triggers are crisp, engraving still strong, trigger guard 100% niter blued, action tight and lever right of center.  Everything is ready for decades more service. The wood has nice bold, straight grained figure, 100% Tru-oil finish (10 coats) with all pores filled, checkering re-cut and sharp, nice shootable dimensions, no cracks or splits.  Anyone who has ever had a gun restored knows there are some real hurtles to clear.  First is finding someone who knows the processes to do a historically correct restoration.  Everything is done properly on this gun.  The second hurtle is cost.  It is often too costly to justify on some guns, especially if the job is to be done correctly.  It is easy to spend over $3000 to restore a Classic American Double.  The third hurtle is time, as most good gunsmiths will have your gun for a year or more to complete a full restoration.  We have cleared all of the hurtles for you with this gun.  It is ready to go, and you have a gun that has been completely gone over with no worries about what might be inside the action waiting to fail.  Delightfully light weight, well balanced, and beautiful to the eye, this Fox is sure to serve you well in the field and on the clays course at a reasonable price, all the while increasing in value as you enjoy its use.
