Description: Holland & Holland Circa 1936, 500/465 with Indian Royalty History. The rifle was originally built for the Maharajah Of Madhya Preadesh; also know affectionately as "The Pigmy" because of his small stature. Legend tells us that he shot a large white male tiger, but lost his life to the tiger's mate who attacked from behind at the same time the male died. After his death, the gun makers a Holland's extended the stock from the original length of 13 1/2 to 15 3/8". The rifle comes in its original case with all accessories. Rifle has seen very little use. Bores are in Mint - As New condition. Blue is 99%. Case colors remain at 30-40%, with the balance a mottled grey. Wood is excellent and sound. Checkering sharp. Crisp screw heads. Action is tight on face and flats with no movement throughout the whole drop. Extra for sight in grip cap compartment. Overall a superb example of this gun makers craft from the Golden Age of gun making; for less than half of new cost!
