This Chicopee-made, Lend-Lease rifle has retained about 75-80% of a flaking Suncorite finish that has some silvering at the muzzle and nosecap, as well as on the exposed projections and high points. The receiver has original blue remaining with traces of a dark plum-brown patina forming, while the matching numbered bolt has a streaked gray body with traces of Suncorite on the handle. There is no import mark present. The handguards and forend have an overall dark brown armory-added varnish over numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes throughout while the brass buttplate has a yellow-ochre patina, and a small armory repair at the heel of the butt. There are unit or inventory markings on either side of the butt as well. A single, non-matching magazine is included, along with an olive greensling, and the milled, adjustable rear sight is installed. Also included with the rifle is a No. 4 Mk. II bayonet, complete with metal scabbard and olive green canvas frog. This is a nice example of a Savage-made No. 4 rifle and is in fine condition overall.
