Description:
Serial #1255116, .30-06, 24” Star Gauge barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a spectacular rifle that retains 98-99% of the original parkerized finish, and is fitted with the original, matching numbered, reversed safety and headless cocking-piece equipped bolt that still retains the original armory bright finish. The barrel has a crisp Star Gauge “turtle” mark on the muzzle, “SA/(flaming bomb)/4-29” behind the front sight base, and some very light silvering on the sides of the front sight base where the finish comes in contact with the brass P.J. O'Hare front sight protector. The rear sight likewise comes with a P.J. O'Hare hinged sheet-metal protector, and is outfitted with an oversized, knurled windage knob. The walnut stock has a few very minor handling marks scattered about the original oil finish, and both the “P (in circle)” proof and “D.A.L.” cartouche are crisp and clear. The deeply checkered, NM buttplate is also in excellent condition with only some very minor silvering and some mild wear at the tips of the points. This is a simply splendid National Match rifle in correct 1929 Camp Perry specs, and would make a fabulous addition to any collection of high grade U.S. rifles. FFL or C&R
