Description:

For sale is a neat old Steyr-Hahn M.1912 .  A sort of mystyery gun with some odd features. Probably repaired at the Vienna arsenal towards the end of the war (the un-numbered slide).  The slide is dated "1917" but is unnumbered. There are four light "scratches" on the frame where the serial number should be. Upon close inspection they all show a small line coming down from the top of each marking - they are all the number "1". The receiver is dated 1918 with an odd proof near the "18" which could be an eagle on its side with the head pointed towards the rear of the gun.  The serial number 1533y is beyond the serial number Austrian arms expert Randy Rick has in his data (6423w) for Steyr-Hahn production in 1918.  The serial number on the barrel (3539D) does not match the serial number on the receiver. The D is a capital D.  There is also a stamp, "J7", on one of the lugs. There are regimental property stamps on the sides lanyard bar "96" and "LR" which probably indicates issue  to the 96th Landwehr Regiment.
A nice piece, if odd.  Would probably make a good shooter but you would need to have a gunsmith check it out - I have not fired it.  Or have your mother-in-law test it.
Purchase with confidence - see my Ebay feedback as "delisda."  Insured shipping by USPS $35.00. This gun requires an FFL or C&R for transfer.
