A BIRD HUNTERS DREAM COME TRUE...THIS IS A DELIGHTFUL LITTLE FRENCH MADE SIDE PLATE GUN THAT WEIGHS JUST SIX POUNDS! THE 16 GAUGE FLUID STEEL BARRELS ARE 27" LONG AND ARE CHOKED IC AND FULL. 2 3/4" CHAMBERS WITH FINE BORES, EXHIBITING SOME SLIGHT EROSION, TYPICALLY CAUSED BY CORROSIVE PRIMED SHELLS. SIDE PLATES AND RECEIVER EXHIBIT FULL COVERAGE FINE FLORAL ENGRAVINGS. THE LENGTH OF PULL IS 13 1/2" WITH A 2 1/2" DROP. NICELY FIGURED FRENCH WALNUT WOOD HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY REFINISHED WITH FINE CUT CHECKERING. BARREL BLUE APPEARS ORIGINAL WITH ABOUT 95% REMAINING. OVERALL VERY FINE CONDITION. RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS ST. ETIENNE BASED MAKER WAS IN BUSINESS FROM AROUND 1900 TO 1910. LEFT BARRELS STAMPS INDICATE THAT MAKER WON A GRAND PRIZE AT THE PARIS EXPOSITION IN 1900 AND AGAIN IN LEIGE IN 1905, WHICH HELPS DATE THIS FINE GUN AS POST 1905 PRODUCTION...NOTICE, THERE IS NO BOTTOM RIB, WHICH IS SOMETIMES A FEATURE OF LIGHT WEIGHT FRENCH MADE GUNS...VIVA LA DIFFERANCE!
