Description:
James Reid was a New York gun maker better known for his multipurpose "knuckleduster" pistols rather than his revolvers.
This particular spur trigger, the Number 4 derringer A.K.A. Reid's extractor model is a highly desirable model, manufactured in 1882 with a total production around 125.Per Flayderman’s (8A-155).

Half-moon front sight with top strap notch rear sight. The barrel is properly marked "REID'S EX'TR". Silver plated brass frame with distinct combination type loading gate and extractor fitted on the right side of the frame. Five shot fluted cylinder and elongated grip strap. Finished with smooth rosewood grips
Overall an excellent example of a rare James Reid No. 4  that would compliment any American Deringer collection.
