Payment Types Accepted: Money Orders, Cashiers Checks, Personal Checks Description: Sharps New Model 1863 Saddle Ring Carbine, .52 caliber percussion, serial number C13XXX, 22” barrel with a good bore, silver blade front sight & elevation adjustable ladder rear sight. Markings are visible throughout including “SHARPS RIFLE/MANUFG CO./HARTFORD,CONN” address stamp on top of barrel with “NEW MODEL 1863” stamped behind rear sight, both sharps & Lawrence patents on lock & receiver, Inspector marks E.A.W. stamped on left rear barrel flat as well as saddle bar mount. Stock has brass star inlaid on the right side; left side of stock has 2 cartouches below the saddle bar with bottom cartouche remaining highly visible, top cartouche still remains but is faint. Initials “ML” are also carved into the left side of the buttstock towards the buttplate. Metal carries an even plum brown patina throughout, wood is well fitted showing some wear & handling marks. The bottom of the forend has a repaired crack where the wood meets the receiver to just before the barrel band. Nice example of a Civil War period carbine. SOLD Antique: Yes |
