Description:
SALE PENDING Winchester Model 88 lever action rifle in .243. This gun is serial number 151164A and the “Pre 64” 88’s are noted as being below serial number 217xxx so this is a Pre 64 model 88! This rifle retains over 98% original metal finishes and the bore is perfect. When it was restocked I do not know, but as you can see it was restocked with an exceptional piece of walnut and fitted with rosewood grip cap and forearm tip. The checkering is bordered with a carved floral pattern and the stock features a tastefully carved cheek piece for a right-handed shooter. It is fitted a same period Leupold VX II 3-9x40 scope and Redfield mounts. It weighs 9 lbs. 9 oz. including sling. The stock and checkering is excellent but there are some spots of varnish “checking” from age. 13 7/8” LOP. Also note a separate listing for a Win 70 in .264 that is a match to this rifle.
