Merwin, Hulbert & Co. New York City. Spur Trigger 22caliber, 7 Shot Revolver.
Less than 2000 manufactured. Identical to Smith & Wesson Model One, Third Issue Revolver...Yes, it's a Smith & Wesson INFRINGEMENT revolver.
Nickel finished, .22 Caliber Short Rimfire, 3 1/2-inch round tip-up barrel with rib. 7-shot fluted cylinder, walnut grips. Barrel marked "Merwin Hulbert & Co. N.Y."
This one was factory engraved, for a custom order, with matching serial numbers on grips, cylinder and frame... . Hopkins & Allen assigned an "S" to special projects along with a number. In this case this is a single digit number.
A very special Merwin, and the only engraved example I have ever seen.
