Description:
Serial #254301, .38 Caliber Pin-Fire, 4 1/8” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has just a few very minor specks of freckling within the grooves. This revolver has a rare marking on the barrel flat "LF/Lion" within a crest. We assume it was either licensed or built by Lefaucheux and sold in Belgium. This is a nicely made “E/LG” proofed revolver that retains about 65% of the original blue on the barrel assembly and cylinder. There is some mild silvering and fading along the balance with a few touches of plum-brown freckling along the edges of the octagonal breech. The frame has about 50-60% of the original still vibrant color case-hardening remaining with freckled gray at the rear and along the gripstraps. The hammer retains about 70% of the original straw color while about 25% remains on the trigger, mostly on protected areas. The walnut grips are assembly numbered to the frame (“5”) and are in very good condition with numerous small scratches and light flaking of the original varnish finish. The lock-up is still tight and the action is fully functional. This is an unusually well preserved example of a pin-fire pocket revolver with a rare marking on the barrel that we have not seen before.
