VERY RARE EARLY FIRST STYLE .22 LONG RIFLE OFFICIAL POLICE REVOLVER WITHOUT THE RECESSED CYLINDER HEAD, MADE1930-1931 ONLY, This model was introduced in 1930 without the recessed cylinder head and by November 1931 (at around serial number 4050) was changed to the recessed style, this one is serial number 22XX and is one of the first full year of production to not have the recessed cylinder head change, for such an early example, this is in outstanding condition showing almost all of the bright Colt blue- even on the face of the cylinder which after a few boxes of shells will blast most of the finish away- back strap blue is thinning/mixing brown and there is a little normal edge wear at the muzzle and on sharp edges, but generally excellent overall, tight action with perfect bright bore, 6" barrel, exc. markings, exc. checkered walnut grips with Colt medallion, many Official Police .22s were purchased by police departments and the military to be used as trainers where they saw very hard use, all of these fixed sighted .22s are scarce, but such an early one especially in this condition is really rare.
