Description:
#4922 Winchester 1873 RBFMCB, 38WCF with Fine bore (about a 8/8+ on a scale of 10) and smooth action. Serial numbered in the 319XXX range (1889). The exterior of this rifle has a smooth even brown patina on the barrel and magazine, the frame is more of a grayish brown in color but does not look to have been cleaned (at least, not recently). The metal overall is basically crisp-edged and devoid of any serious damage or blemishes and can be easily toned on the frame to look more natural. VG wood although on close inspection, it is evident that the forestock is an old repair on the belly (but a pretty good one, the wood just being a little “rippled” at the frame junction) and the butt has a couple of deep dents at the rear of the comb. Standard sights. Round barrel ‘73s, while being less expensive and “standard” are considerably less common than the octagon barreled rifles, plus it is difficult to find what is basically a no-finish ’73 and one that still has such a really fine bore!
