Description:
MEXICAN WAR SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1847 ARTILLERY MUSKETOON DATED 1847. .69 cal. smoothbore 26” barrel with bayonet lug on underside of muzzle and “V/P/EAGLEHEAD” proofs at the breech. Has the original swivels and ramrod. All original, complete and matching with 1847 dated lock and barrel. Fine overall with the original crisp grey patina on the metal and stock with two extra nice U.S. Govt. Inspector’s cartouches. Only a small handful of 1847 dated Artillery Carbines are known and most are altered Sappers and Miner’s Musketoons. Scarce example made as an Artillery Model and original and correct in every respect.
