From my private collection I am selling this Winchester model 1886 antique lever action rifle. 36" half octagon barrel in 45-70 caliber. With Cody letter.
The Winchester Book on page 332 says of this rifle:
"A beaches front sight and long leaf rear sight is a combination rarely seen in any model of Winchester. Of great rarity is the 36-inch barrel; a part round 36-inch barrel is among the rarest of any special order features. Note the two magazine retaining bands on number 118581. Many Winchesters such as this are one-of-a-kind guns; very few were made, and the survival rate of about 10% for all models introduced prior to the year 1900 combine to make some of these guns choice collector's items, equal or superior to most Colts, Martials,oddities, or other antique guns."
