Payment Types Accepted: Check, MO, Wire Transfer Description: These rifles were made at Harpers Ferry Armory 1857-1861 in both brass and iron mounted specimens. They were all finished in the white. The lock is dated 1859 on this iron mounted version rifle and it even has a 3-blade 500-yard rear sight. It has a tulip tip ramrod and is equipped with the Maynard type primer system. There is even actually an original water proofed wrapped roll of the Maynard primer tape in the iron patch box compartment. The barrel is dated 1860 and it has a nice inspectors stamp on the left side below one of the lock plate screws. The 33” rifled barrel is near excellent bright and shiny condition with new like rifling. The mechanical function is very good crisp and tight. All of the markings are sharp and crisp. In 1861 Confederates burned the Harpers Ferry Arsenal with about 3500 of the 1855 rifles being destroyed so this is why they are so very hard to come by. This is in very fine plus condition.
