Made around 1920 by Deutsche Werke in Germany, this Ortgies Patent .25 ACP is all original and in very good condition. This is a well made, simple and reliable pocket pistol. It has a unique grip safety that is unlocked by a button on the left side of the frame below the slide. With the grip safety in the out position the pistol will not fire, giving the individual carrying the gun the choice of carrying it with one in the chamber. Once the grip safety is depressed and locked in, the user does not have to keep holding it in while firing the pistol. This makes the gun easier to fire accurately in theory. This example retains a conservative 90% of the original blue finish and appears to have been used/carried very little. There are a few little areas at the rear on the grip safety where it has rusted previously, leaving some very small and light pitting. The original wooden grips look great, with no cracks, damage, or repairs. The bore looks great with strong rifling. Overall, this is a great example of this neat little gun at a great price!
